I get this question a lot...

how do you go about sugaring the Pubic/Bikini/Brazilian area?

How do you do the Bikini area yourself? Well, I can explain it in words...but watching is so much better!

I'll give you my version after! I just really can give you tips...

One thing I want you to notice...
in these Brazilian, bikini line sugaring movies is that in these Brazilian, bikini line sugaring movies: The color of the skin after sugaring. Nooo..I'm not saying black or white whatever. The skin is not red! The skin is not irritated! It is not swollen either. No bumps. No raw skin.
Here's another...
in any of these movies I have shared I did not hear or see the sugaree flinching or crying out in pain.(There's a playlist further down...they aren't me, but they are by two ladies I truly admire and respect. They know their craft and are GREAT teachers.)

I, personally, can attest to this. I AM able to do the bikini line and pubic/Bikini/Brazilin area myself and so can YOU with some patience and research. Yes, I said research. Sugaring is unlike any other hair removal out there readily available. At this time, you can't just go to Walgreens and buy organic sugaring hair removal. Why? I'd like to know that myself. It's been around since the ancient Egyptians, so why isn't it easier for us to get, like razors and depilatory creams (which, I might add are both bad for the eco-system and environment).
You can use #sugaring at home for your #bikini area with some patience and research. Yes, I said research.
I like to do my sugaring sessions when I'm home alone and it's nice and quiet, calm and I can be relaxed. I can sit in a comfortable area in a cool, dry room "go at it", so to speak.
This is key to sugaring, period. IF YOU are warm, sticky, unclean, sweaty, or uncomfortable, frustrated, in a bad mood even... you are not going to have much luck!
This goes for all sugaring (eyebrows to toes), whether you're sugaring at home or going to a salon. I say this because when YOU are well, any of the above, your BODY TEMPERATURE rises. Not a fever, but skin body temperature. Sugaring is temperature sensitive no matter which way you look at it. Body temperature, Sugaring paste temperature, and room temperature. Humidity also plays a role.
What do you think is going to happen to the room temperature sugaring paste when you apply it to your skin say....right after a shower? It's going to melt, get sticky, and hard to work with because the bathroom is the most humid room in the house. Room temperature - your immediate environment play a role in sugaring. Sure! Some would think that sugaring after a shower would seem like the logical time to do sugaring, right? But you're clean! you said "clean and dry skin!" Nope. Use NON-oily Sugar Scrubs in the shower for exfoliation. (Another keynote discussed here) But then, get out, cool off, walk, around the house nekkid for a while. Dry off. Cool off. Find yourself a comfy spot to sugar in a room with a good room temperature between 62 - 72 degrees
Make sure the spot you choose to get comfortable (don't try to sit on the toilet and sugar!) is like I said...COOL AND DRY. This would not be your bathroom. Humidity abounds in a bathroom y'all. Think Bedroom, living room, den...

Typical thought of going to the salon and getting a brazilian!
Typical thought of going to the salon and getting a Brazilian!

You could go to a salon if you have one around you to get a "feel" for sugaring *recommended*

I live in Portland, TN, a little farm town in Mid TN. There's one salon that I know of in Nashville, but that's a 50-minute drive for me. Euphoria Salon in Nashville, TN. I wanted to do it myself. Plus, I asked myself "Why should I pay someone over one hundred dollars for something I can do myself with a jar of organic sugaring?" I added up what they charge for sugaring the legs, underarms, chin, and Brazilian (because that's just where I like to be smooth!) and it came up to $453!! Can you believe that!? Don't? Here's their price list. I can do ALL of that myself and still have sugar leftover for the next session in 3-4 weeks with one 8 ounce jar of the sugaring paste I make and have in my shop!
My Secret Super Power is Brazilian Sugaring! Refer to this list of verified, reputable sugaring salons to find a salon near you that offers sugaring services.

An 8 oz jar of Sugaring Paste should last you about 2 sessions each with smooth results lasting 2-3 weeks...
with no ingrown's to speak of.
(Assuming that you've done your research, watched the videos, went through the picture tutorials step by step and have an understanding of what you're doing...like I said, sugaring is a LEARNED method of natural hair removal...
but once you LEARN it, it is SOO WORTH IT!)
IF you choose to go to a salon for sugaring sessions for whatever reason, please keep in mind that not all salons use organic ingredients. From my research, I've found three main larger sugaring suppliers to salons. There are Alexandria's Professional Sugaring, Tamara's Professional Body Sugaring, and Sugar Love Professional Sugaring.
You will notice that there are two colors (types) of sugaring paste. They do the same thing, but one "color" is organic and the other is natural. Ha...yes..confusing, I know.
DARK sugaring paste is typically made from organic raw sugar and is a thicker consistency
Light HONEY colored sugaring paste is typically from white processed sugar and is a softer consistency.
There's the difference.
I use raw unprocessed sugar (not white bleached and refined), freshly squeezed lemon juice (not from concentrate or store-bought bottled) and water...not tap or fluoride treated that's chemicals - Fresh mountain filtered water. (FYI - so does Jessa Skincare)
JBHomemade Sugaring Paste 8 oz includes everything you need to start sugaring at home! JBHomemade Sugaring Paste 8 oz includes everything you need to start sugaring at home!
JBHomemade Sugaring is made with Mountain Spring Water Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice! Yes - my hands get cramped! But it's worth it!
In my JBHomemade Shop on Etsy with all organic sugaring paste orders, I include and applicator, a pouch of corn starch and a sample of my Pure Aloe for soothing after-sugaring care.
Ok... on to the videos! And hey...it isn't me in the videos...(lord knows my southern man would be a bit peeved with me, to say the least, if I was this brave!)
These are how I LEARNED how to properly do my bikini line and Brazilian.
Truth be told, I DO have to call the honey in when I'm ready for the backside.
He's learned how to sugar as well. He thinks its the coolest thing since sliced bread.
I do his back and his neck so he has learned the method by having me sugar him.
He does a really good job! Plus..the added bonus....well sex is incredible after sugaring!
(NOT RIGHT AFTER...I'm talking the smoothness..ya gotta wait at least a few hours)
Jessa, who happens to be a 15-year experienced esthetician who owns her own salon in CA and makes sugaring for the pro salons, uses raw sugar as well, I mentioned that a moment ago.
You can see the difference in color that the raw sugar provides in her two movies below. Mine is dark as well. Most salons use Alexandria Pro brand (the most popular PROFESSIONAL sugaring brand), as far as I can tell. They use regular white sugar. Hence the lighter coloring and softer consistency.
~These Bikini Sugaring at home tips all come from personal experience:
  1. Use plenty of the Powder/Corn starch: This ensures there is no moisture to the skin. Helps with pain level as well.
  2. For beginners, start with using a smaller size "ball". Using the applicator provided or your fingers only, begin sugaring in this most delicate area using a "ball" of sugar about the size of a penny. *Remember - smaller areas/detail areas or areas that are more sensitive use a smaller ball.
  3. Your environment is important. If you need to make adjustments, it is in your (and your bikini area's) best interest. *Be in a Cool Dry room! Room temperature 62-72° is ideal with fan circulation
  4. YOUR body temperature plays a role in Sugaring paste. Use a personal fan or even be near your air conditioner vent if you need to.
  5. Don't try to sugar right after a shower or bath or right after working out or getting hot/sweaty.
  6. Use a mirror! Sit on the floor on a towel. Position yourself and a mirror so that you can see what you are doing! Don't try to just feel your way around.
  7. Try to keep skin tight and taut. You will be using one hand to manipulate the sugaring paste. Use your free hand to pull the skin tight and taut for the area you are working on.
  8. If you’ve let your bikini area hair grow out for a while, you’ll definitely want to trim before sugaring. Recommended 1/8” to 1/4" OR if it’s short, let it grow to at least 1/8”
  9. Always start on less sensitive areas like the back of the thigh or low belly. Work your way in small areas to the more sensitive areas “towards the center line”.
  10. Be mindful of your bikini area’s growth pattern. When you use sugaring, you apply in the OPPOSITE direction of growth. The hair in the area is probably going to grow toward the front, toward the centerline, or some combination.
  11. Prepare your skin before sugaring! About 48 hours prior to sugaring, it may be a good idea for you first-timers to give the area a good exfoliating scrub. Use a NATURAL, NON-OILY, gentle scrub.
  12. Use your palms to roll a small scoop of sugar wax into a ball. Do not knead the paste excessively; doing so will overheat the wax, making it stickier and less able to grip the hair.
  13. Place the sugaring ball over a small section of your bikini line. Use your fingertips or the applicator provided to flatten the paste until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
  14. Remove the sugaring paste by either pinching one edge then pulling quickly in the same direction of hair growth or by using the applicator as an “extension of your fingers”. You will use a “flicking” motion with your wrist. This helps to avoid breakage & ingrown hairs.
  15. Repeat the process on another section of bikini hair until the area is smooth. Remember that unlike waxing, when you use sugaring you CAN go over those stubborn hairs more than once.
  16. Spread the sugaring paste three to four times in the opposite direction of hair growth. It helps to count out loud to help keep your pace. Not too fast, not too slow
  17. Once the sides are complete, move on to the next area, repeating the steps. Apply the cornstarch or powder to the area to be sugared.
  18. Remember that you will be using small balls of sugar paste and removing lots of hair. When you get too much hair in the sugaring paste, just throw it away and grab another ball. Don’t wait until the sugar gets warm or sticky... You’ll avoid getting “sugar stuck”.
  19. Some flexibility may be required if you are attempting to do a Brazilian. A handheld mirror helps too!
  20. Important: Keep the area dry! There is a moisture issue because of where you're working, which could make the paste too gummy and difficult to remove. This can lead to unnecessary pain and possible bruising. The pain may also cause you to sweat. Reapply cornstarch as needed.
  21. The first time you sugar at home, it may take you a lot longer than you think, so set some time aside.
  22. Determine how much hair you would like to remove and exactly from where before you start.
  23. If you are just cleaning up the sides, you can do this from a reclining position.
  24. You will be working from the outside toward the center. The bikini hair that reaches your upper/inner thigh most likely grows downward.
  25. In your "triangle" the hair most likely grows downward or inward in this area. Just apply the paste horizontally from the center line toward the edge or upwards towards your belly.
  26. What will you need for successful results? A personal fan! I recommend a fan when you do Pubic/Bikini/Brazilin sugaring because it will keep you cool and dry. Remember: the bikini area is typically the warmest (and moistest) area of the female body!
  27. Advice from my doctor (before I sugared 'there' for the first time I asked my doctor, who happens to be of Persian descent, some tips. She is very familiar with sugaring because her aunts, mom, and so on use sugaring in their culture): I know it goes against going organic with the hair removal, but she suggested using Lidocaine Spray (You know...the stuff you use when you get a sunburn that sprays on and numbs?) She said spray on 45 minutes before sugaring. Let it dry/soak it get to work. After 45 minutes, use a towel to ensure every bit of hairs and skin is dry. THEN start applying the powder/cornstarch and moving forward.
  28. *Note I'm actually in the process now of making a large batch of a plant-based, natural (one would say holistic) tincture that will be listed for this purpose.
  29. Make sure you watch the videos provided on my Facebook page or Youtube--they are for legs, underarms, facial hair and "fingerprint test for paste readiness", but will at least give you some helpful hints.
