There's definitely something to be said
about becoming an entrepreneur/small business owner.
They say you start with a dream...a vision of what life could be
through offering a product or service and succeeding on this endeavor.
My journey, however, did not start that way.
As I told y'all a while back in
Holistic Herbalist and Homesteading meets organic hair removal and skin care,
I'm an avid gardener, love digging in the soil and compost, planting seeds and watching them grow,
and making the skin and hair products my family uses in lieu of
buying into all the commercialized chemical filled products on the market today.

I mean think about it...the ladies that lived 200
some odd years ago had beautiful locks and skin.
They didn't use products filled with chemicals
(most of which did not exist in their time).
My start began in my garden as I contemplated a better method of removing the hairs on my legs.
(Sounds a little odd, I know. I do my best thinking in the garden)
I was as shaver from "way back", and on this particular beautiful day
2 years and 2 months ago, I decided to take a good shower, exfoliate, shave and get my bikini on
to go out in the garden and start transplanting flowers and herbs
that had been waiting patiently for me in the greenhouse.
I proceeded with my shower/shave routine when the hubby came into the bathroom
(as he often does) and got ready for work.
When he was done, he exited the bathroom

without closing the door behind him,
I felt my legs and could feel the stubble
already trying to peek through the skin. Grrrr.
Along with the preceding events, the mission, the "Sugaring Revolution",
the quest for organic hair removal, my business was born.
Since then I have had countless great days, events, craft shows, parties
and have grown my business slowly but surely day by day.

There has also been:
1. Exhaustion comes to mind.
2. So does perseverance.
3. Determination.
4. Endless recipes for herbs
5. Constant learning.
6. Endless research.
7. Hours of editing.
8. Pounds upon POUNDS of sugar
9. Sore hands and knuckles from
squeezing lemons.
10. Countless almost all-nighters
bed comes usually around 1 am
11. Ideas and concerns running
through your head 24 hours a day
12...yes...even when you're sleeping.
13. And the never ending drive to grow and
spread the word about sugaring!
Fear
...yes...Although there's a fire in your belly to succeed
and do right by your own mind's creation,
there always seems to be that
and do right by your own mind's creation,
there always seems to be that
Fear
that you will not.
It's a "dog eat dog" world out there, they say, after all.
But isn't it that
It's a "dog eat dog" world out there, they say, after all.
But isn't it that
Fear
of failure at your small business that keeps that same fire alive?
To prove to everyone that you CAN make something of yourself and your knowledge
that you have acquired throughout your life thus far.
To prove to everyone that you CAN make something of yourself and your knowledge
that you have acquired throughout your life thus far.
Or are you proving it to yourself? This doesn't have to be geared towards small businesses.
Take a moment and think about this for a moment...
is there anything that you strive to do well at in order to prove to yourself
or someone you respect, look up to or admire that
you can succeed in your vision of the future? I've had the pleasure of becoming part of the ever growing small business community
and I absolutely adore this aspect of being a small business owner.
There are countless others just like me who are trying to build a business
and make a better life for their family.
