Exfoliation is the key to the best sugaring treatment.
Sugaring is a less painful, more natural method of hair removal.
Sugaring in general is a hair removal, or epilation, technique that has been used for
centuries - all the way back to ancient Egypt and that beauty guru Cleopatra, persia and arabia!
In my experience and research, your skin will get better results from sugaring if:
You take the time to take care of your skin before and after your sugaring treatments at home.
Exfoliation is one of the key ways to keep your skin soft and happy between your hair removal treatments!
Exfoliation is when dead or old skin cells on the outermost surface of your skin are gently removed.
The healthiest way to do this is with natural skin products.
They should include small granules which rub away the old skin.
This will bring softer, younger skin cells to the surface.
This organic all natural hair removal paste is quite thick. It feels almost like taffy.
It is firm, but pliable. If you have not sugared before, it does takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, it truly is amazing.
This method is certainly much less painful than waxing, less messy (easily cleans up with warm water), and is much more beneficial for your skin.
This organic all natural hair removal gel/wax is the consistency of thick honey or syrup. Sugaring gel/wax is a less painful alternative to waxing.
This product is wonderful for anyone that would like a natural alternative
to body waxing without all the expense and hassle of going to the salon. The denim strips provided are reusable and washable by hand.
This organic all natural hair removal paste is quite thick. It feels almost like taffy. It is firm, but pliable. The benefit of using an organic paste is that you don't need to mess around with hair removal strips, only your fingers or applicator alone are needed! It is all-natural, requires no heat and no strips.
Sugaring wax is a less painful alternative to resin/salon waxing. This sugaring gel/wax is recommended for those with naturally thinner hair and those who have a history of salon waxing.
Each method naturally exfoliates
which is great in and of itself.
But you don't want the hair removal
sugaring to do all of the exfoliation.
Why?
It's important to keep your skin exfoliated before and
after you begin your at home sugaring treatment.
This will assure only your unwanted hairs get removed.
If you keep your skin exfoliated and as fresh as possible,
your sugaring treatments will get the best results.
Sugaring by itself works great for natural exfoliation.
Yet, you don't want to clog the sugar with dead skin cells.
Your sugaring will last longer during use.
The sugar scrubs listed on my shop work in tandem with sugaring for hair removal.
They are perfect for routine exfoliation in your skincare regimen.
Whether you are sugaring at home for the first time or
maintaining your after care, your skin will be ready to go.
Now you can bundle your favorite sugar scrubs with your choice of hair removal and save 10%!
Fact: While being spread in the opposite direction of growth,
the sugar literally seeps into your follicles/pores.
This essentially "lubricates" the hair, allowing for gentle extraction.

...and why this ancient method changed everything for me.
Hi, I’m Jen — founder of JBHomemade, herbalist, homesteader, and your friendly neighborhood Sugar Plum Fairy. π
Years ago, I traded razors, Nair, and painful waxing appointments for a forgotten ritual rooted in the wisdom of women who came long before us. The Egyptians were doing it 4,000 years ago. I picked it up on a homestead in Tennessee.
It’s called body sugaring — and yes, it really is made from sugar (plus lemon and water). π
Why I’ll Never Go Back to Shaving or Waxing Sugaring is the most skin-loving method of hair removal I've ever found. Once I made the switch, I stopped dealing with:
Razor burn and stubble
Ingrown hairs
Harsh chemical creams
Itchy regrowth
And throwing away plastic razors every week (πΈ + π️)
Instead, I now sugar at home — naturally, gently, and way more affordably. My skin is softer than it’s ever been, and the hair grows back finer each time. It’s like a botanical wax, but better. No pain, no chemicals, no salon bills.
π« “But is it hard to do at home?”
Nope. You can learn how to make sugaring paste at home (I teach it right here), but if you’d rather skip the trial-and-error of mastering the cook — I’ve got you.
I’ve spent years perfecting my own small-batch sugaring paste, and you can order it here in my shop. It's shipped fresh and handmade just for you.

Instead of embedding four iframes, I’ve gathered my most helpful sugaring tutorials in a single YouTube playlist for easier watching (and faster page loading):
I make it from scratch, by hand, in small batches using certified organic sugar and lemon juice. No additives. No preservatives. No junk. Just pure, botanical goodness cooked into a golden taffy-like paste that gently lifts hair from the root — even short or stubborn hairs.
It’s:
Biodegradable ✅
Kind to sensitive skin ✅
Vegan and cruelty-free ✅
Made by someone who actually uses it ✅
π Your Skin Deserves Better Than a Razor
You don’t have to keep putting up with the cycle of shaving and suffering. There is a better way — and if you’re a DIY soul like me, you’ll fall in love with the whole sugaring experience.
Whether you’re a first-timer or looking to switch from waxing to something more holistic, you’re in the right place.
I just can't get enough of talking and sharing about organic sugaring y'all.
Not only is it my business, it is also fits my lifestyle of trying to live green, healthy, chemical-free, holistic, organic, NONGMO homesteading. We live on a rural farm in TN, hunt, and grow veggies, herbs, flowers all for our diet and medicine.

...find out what you COULD be doing differently there's so many more benefits to sugaring it still amazes me! No Shave November? Paaashaaww!! I laugh. Bahhahaahaha! I haven't shaved in months! I haven't waxed, shaved, had ingrown hairs, had sensitive skin, razor burn, stubble (yea! like when you get out of the shower after shaving and you get the goosebumps! That's always a joy! *looks around** Crickets...* Y'all know what I'm talking about! It feels like you didn't shave at all! I don't get that with sugaring. My skin is petal soft without:
Picking up a razor (Um..non-degradable waste)
Using chemically concocted shaving creams
Even ones that literally chemically burn the hairs off of your skin
going to a salon! $$$$$ (sorry, pros, but it's true ~in my own humble opinion, I realize not everyone will agree with me on this point~. I could not fathom spending $60 every two to three weeks to bear the pain of waxing. It's like masochism of some sort.)
Dealing with itchy, dry skin aftermath result of shaving
Dealing with Ingrown hairs!
Knicks from the razors
Red, irritated skin reaction to chemicals in some waxes and most creams
Shaving is a daily CHORE.

I know it sounds corny, but sharing really is caring! (Especially about something like this... your skin, your legs, ANYWHERE...YES...ANYWHERE from your eyebrows to your toes.) It's not my invention, (the EGYPTIANS started sugaring!) by all means! I just absolutely LOVE SUGARING and have found a way to share it with you without YOU having to go through 40 POUNDS of sugar while you try to master the cooking. I've got that down.

Sugaring Paste or Wax? Which Natural Magic is Right for You?
One of the most common questions I receive from my beautiful customers on Etsy is, “Jen, which sugaring method do I choose?” It's a question that goes beyond mere technique. Welcome, radiant soul. Whether you’re just beginning your sugaring journey or deepening your ritual of natural hair removal, choosing between sugaring paste and sugaring wax isn’t just a technical decision — it’s a sacred one. It’s about your hair’s story, your skin’s needs, and your long-term intentions.
As a master herbalist, I believe true skincare is a conversation with nature, not a battle against it. The right sugaring method isn't about what’s trending; it's about what works in harmony with you . Let’s explore the differences, benefits, and how to choose the method that aligns with your goals and your body’s wisdom.
π What Is Sugaring?
At its heart, sugaring is an ancient, gentle art of hair removal using only three simple, earth-given ingredients: sugar, lemon, and a touch of water. This natural trio creates a paste that seeps into your hair follicles, "lubricating" the hair for a smooth, gentle extraction. This is the secret to minimizing pain, redness, and those pesky ingrown hairs often associated with other methods. It’s gentle, effective, and deeply skin-loving — exfoliating while it removes hair and leaving your skin soft, soothed, and glowing.
Unlike traditional waxing, sugaring:
Is less painful
Doesn’t cause ingrowns or razor burn
Is safe for sensitive skin, varicose veins, and even eczema
Is eco-friendly, cruelty-free, and earth-safe
While both sugaring methods are far more gentle than traditional waxing and offer incredible skin-exfoliating benefits, they serve two distinct purposes. The path you choose depends on one key question:
What is your ultimate goal?
Sugaring Paste is your guide on the path to permanent hair reduction over time.
Sugaring Wax/Gel is for the journey of temporary, all-natural hair removal .
The Sugaring Paste Method: For the Long-Term Journey
The magic of sugaring paste lies in its consistency and the ancient technique used to apply it. Crafted to a thick, taffy-like consistency, it’s designed to be worked with your fingers.
Best for: Beginners and anyone with thick, coarse, or dark hair.
Technique: Applied against the direction of hair growth with your fingers and flicked off with the natural direction of growth.
The Secret: Sugaring paste can grab even the shortest hairs (as short as 1/8 inch), which is often the earliest phase of the hair growth cycle (the Anagen stage). Repeated removal at this stage over time starves the follicle, leading to progressively thinner, sparser, and eventually, no hair growth at all.
The Sugaring Wax (Soft Gel) Method: For Gentle, Temporary Care
Our soft sugaring gel is cooked to a thinner, honey-like consistency. It's a beautiful alternative for those who already have finer hair or are simply looking for a less painful, temporary method of hair removal.
Best for: Individuals with naturally thin or fine hair, or those whose hair has thinned from years of waxing.
Technique: Used slightly warmed (never hot!) and applied with an applicator and reusable denim strips.
The Difference: This method requires hair to be at least 1/4 inch long, which means you’re removing it at a later stage of growth. Because the follicle isn't "caught" at its most vulnerable stage, the hair will continue to grow back as before.

πΏ How to Choose the Right Method for You
Ask yourself:
Have you shaved your whole life and your hair grows thick and fast?
Have you been waxing for years and your follicles are already softened?
Is your hair naturally fine or light?
Are you seeking permanent hair reduction or just a gentler alternative?
✨ If you’re a beginner or have coarse hair: Start with Sugaring Paste. It works best during the Anagen stage of hair growth and leads to permanent reduction over time.
✨ If your hair is already thin or you want a quick, gentle method: Try Sugaring Wax. It’s perfect for maintenance and touch-ups.
“Your hair holds ancestral memory. Your skin deserves ritual, not routine.”
π¬ Why Paste Leads to Permanency
Sugaring paste seeps into the follicle, lubricating the hair and allowing it to glide out gently. When used consistently during the Anagen stage (when hair is actively growing), it weakens the follicle over time — leading to thinner, sparser regrowth and eventual permanency.
