I think these might be the last full hydrangea blooms of the season… and I'm not mad about how they're going out. 🌸💗💜💙 We've had such a dry season here in Tennessee that I'm honestly surprised these two bushes are still putting on a show. There are a few newer buds coming along, so maybe they'll surprise me and keep going a little longer. Time will tell. But THIS bloom caught my eye — pink on one side, blue/purple on the other. 🥹 Nature really does have a way of making something beautiful when you aren't even asking it to. So here's a little close-up of what may be my last hydrangea show of 2026. 🌿 #HydrangeaColors #GardeningTok #gardentok #flowertok #creatorsearchinsights

Apparently my morning plans were canceled by the sunrise. 😂🌅 I got up early. Went to the porch. Picked up the camera. And then just… sat there. No big revelation. No profound life lesson. Just one of those little moments that reminds you there's a whole lot of beauty happening while we're busy worrying about everything else. 🧡 So I figured I'd share it. #Sunrise #CountryLiving #SlowLiving #TennesseeLife #NatureTok

I've been contemplating adding these to my natural skin care line. I already have all the ingredients (beetroot powder, alkanet, cocoa, etc) and the small containers. What do you think? Natural lip balm colors, these are good options 🌸 Soft Pink — beetroot 🌹 Rose Pink — alkanet root 🍑 Peach — annatto 🤎 Nude Beige — cocoa powder 🍫 Chocolate Brown — cocoa powder 🧡 Warm Orange — annatto ❤️ Berry Red — beetroot + hibiscus 🍇 Mauve — alkanet + beetroot 🌰 Caramel Brown — cocoa + a tiny amount of turmeric 🌷 Dusty Rose — alkanet + cocoa #naturalskincare #skincareline #smallbusiness #lipbalm #naturalcolors

I went back out with my Canon because I promised I'd get a better look at the deer… and the very first one I zoomed in on was THIS GUY. 🦌👀 There were probably 20 deer in the field last night after the corn harvest—does, bucks, and several little spotted babies. The corn buffet apparently remains open. 😂🌽 #deer #whitetaildeer #countrylife #creatorsearchinsights #allthedeers

The deer are in seventh heaven this evening. Right in front of my porch, as dusk settles the evening. They're not even scared of the machinery. Looks like they found a honey hole of corn niblets. How many do you count? 🥰👏❤️🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌 #tnwildlife #SlowLiving #inthecountry #deer #tennessee

Her 2nd first bloom of the season 🌸 Planted this Paul Neyron rose in honor of my sister Christi when she passed in 2019, and every spring (and every "second spring" after I cut her back) feels like a little visit. 40+ blooms back in early spring, cut back in June, and now she's blooming again. Missing you, always. #rosegarden #gardentok #cottagecore #gardenlife #memorial

Herbal Skincare & Organic Sugaring, Straight From a Tennessee Homestead

Hi, I'm Jen — a Certified Master Herbalist and Naturopath, and the one-woman force behind JBHomemade Sugaring & Skin Care. Everything here is handmade in small batches on our 180-acre homestead: botanical skincare crafted from herbs I grow or source from local Amish farms, and organic sugaring paste made the old way, with just sugar, lemon, and water.

This blog holds 10+ years of tutorials, recipes, and behind-the-scenes homestead life — some of it a little dusty these days, but the plant wisdom in it still holds up. For the freshest updates, my full ingredient glossary, and the current shop, head over to the main site.
